Here are some of the tools and resources that I use. :

ECD PCB Express - fast and cheap PC boards for prototypes.  The availability of a 2-sided PC board in 2 days for $100 has changed my prototyping style.

MultiEdit Text Programmers Editor.  It fits my editing style and has the power to do anything I have ever needed in an editor.  Lots of automatic stuff.

MacroMaker - (by Anthony Mathews)
Keyboard macro record/playback.  (not to be confused by a dozen other programs with the same name)  Sometimes there is nothing better than keyboard input.  Automation makes keyboard input even better! (email me for vector to free software)

CircuitMaker/TraxMaker Schematic entry, simulation, and PC board design tools. Good performance  to price ratio.  Free "student" version works well for small projects.

(Tech support for the CM/TM tools has been reduced significantly since acquisition by Protel.  I am not recommending this tool set until tech support gets better) - (4 years  later . . . still waiting . . .)

TK Solver Math Software

(it probably won't irritate you as much as MathCad)

Forensic Engineers will help you find out why something broke/failed/exploded/smoked/fried/etc.

VirtualStapler.Com has an assortment of staplers,
including my "Stapleless Stapler" (with video clips).

note:  I found the stapler at a garage sale a long time ago.  The only text on the device is the word "Japan".
